ABOUT JERRY DEHART
Jerry has deep roots in the area and the construction industry. Born and raised in York County, his family originally settled in the area in the 1600s. After a year at the University of Maine, Jerry attended the Construction Technology program at San Jose City College in California. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, Jerry went on to become a project manager and in 1987, became a licensed General B Contractor in the states of California, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona. Under his leadership, his company, DeHart Construction, grew to over 50 employees.
In the mid-nineties, Jerry took a brief sabbatical from construction to travel the world, visiting over 40 countries. When he returned, he continued his education at the University of Georgia, where he received several certificates of excellence. Jerry returned to his home state after September 11th, settling in Ogunquit and continuing with DeHart Construction. In 2006, he joined forces with Master Carpenter Norm Clough.
Jerry also served his community as an appointed Member of the Zoning Board of Appeals; past Chairperson on the Ogunquit Historic Preservation Commission; former VP of the Home Builders and Remodelers of Maine; a past board member of the National Home Builders Public Affairs Committee and past member of the Board of Directors for the Barn Gallery (OAC) in Ogunquit Maine. Jerry is also a current State of Maine licensed third party building inspector.
ABOUT NORM CLOUGH
Norm was born and raised in Sanford, Maine. Majoring in building trades, he graduated from Sanford High School in 1980 and continued his education at Southern Maine Technical College (formerly Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute), earning his AAS degree in 1982. He quickly worked his way up the corporate ladder from hourly associate to General Manager of 70 employees. During those years, he never lost his passion, and worked part-time as a self-employed carpenter.
In early 2001, Norm realized his dream and founded his own company, NormC Home Improvement. And in 2006, he merged his company with DeHart Construction to form Coastal General Construction, Inc. Norm is well-versed in every phase of the design and construction process and is an expert in finished construction.
Coastal General Construction, Inc., is a full-service, licensed construction company. We carry comprehensive liability insurance and all our employees and subcontractors are covered by Workers’ Compensation insurance. We’re also lead paint certified.
Everyone working on one of our job sites is part of the Coastal family. We have strong relationships with our subcontractors and look for skilled professionals who are as courteous to the customer as the owners would be. Our subcontractors are empowered to be close to the client so they can comfortably make decisions as needed. Everyone takes pride in our work and in the long-term relationships we have forged.
